Opening Ceremony

This past Sunday, February 1st was LTI's second annual Opening Ceremony. We welcomed ten students from around the Boston and Cambridge area and their family and friends. Activities included an introduction to the LTI Spring 2009 curriculum with a Leadership Scavenger Hunt for the students, and a "Splat" name-learning game and "Paper Tower" activity for the family and friends at the MIT Stata Center.

Opening Ceremony

LTI mentors and executive board welcomed ten students and their family and friends at the Spring 2009 Opening Ceremony. Following opening remarks by Director Amanda Mok and Associate Director Taylor Jay, the students and their guests received an introduction to the renovated curriculum with a leadership scavenger hunt and paper tower building contest.

Spring 2009 First LTI Session

Our first session for the Spring 2009 semester was run on Sunday, February 8th. This session focused on icebreakers and an overview of the final project aspect of the LTI curriculum. Students are introduced to the proposal guidelines for their own community service project due at the end of the spring sessions. Following the final project presentations, students adorned the Stata Center chalk boards with their creative life-sized depictions of leaders.

Executive Board Recruitment

The Public Relations committee recently wrapped up recruitment for open executive positions in late February. Positions included Public Relations Chair, Curriculum Chair, Expansion Director, and International LTI Chair. Congratulations to Chris Su '11, Fei Sun '12, Wesley Leung '11, Walter Anazonwu '11, and Monica Oliver '12.

New Expansion Committee

We are excited to announce a new Expansion committee! The goal of this new committee is to maintain contacts and extend our program and curriculum to various countries including Mexico, China, Brazil, El Salvador, and South Africa.

March General Body Meeting

The next upcoming LTI General Body meeting is scheduled for March 11, 2009. Our newest executive members will be transitioned into their positions during a welcoming ceremony and bonding night. Future plans for the expansion committee and LTI's summer travels will be solidified. Look for specific LTI Expansion travel locations and time updates soon!
